Posts for category: Excess Fat of Upper Neck
The long-awaited investigational injectable drug ATX-101 from Kythera Biopharmaceuticals was safe and effective, according to trials presented at the American Academy of Dermatology Meeting in March in Miami. A Phase IIIb study showed that 87 per cent of patients treated with the drug achieved at least one grade of improvement from baseline at three months after the treatments. 95 per cent of patients were satisfied with treatment. Adverse events were minimal and transient. This is indeed good news for patients who want to get rid of excess fat and looseness under the chin and on the upper neck.
Current treatments for this problem include liposuction and plastic surgery. Some tighteneing of the skin can be achieved with radiofrequency or ultrasound treatments, including Aluma, but are not helpful for excess fat.
I will keep you posted, as this is a treatment I plan to add to my armamentarium as soon as FDA approval is granted.
