Insulin Resistance Causes Obesity, Not the Reverse

Contrary to our previous understanding, what we eat determines whether food will be stored as fat, or burned, giving us more energy. What we eat can lead to insulin resistance, and therefore diabetes. That then leads to obesity.
As a young ER doctor, Peter Attia felt contempt for a patient with diabetes. She was overweight, he thought, and thus responsible for the fact that she needed a foot amputation.
