This weekend I attended the Aesthetics in Plastic Surgery/AntiAging Medicine conference at the Waldorf-Astoria.  The latest data about stem cell facial transplants was presented and discussed at length.  Fat has stem cells that can grow into mature skin cells such as fibroblasts, which then can produce the natural structural proteins of the skin.  In this procedure, then, fat is extracted from the belly or thigh, mixed with specific  growth factors, and injected into the face.  Over time, one can see good enhancement of facial volume.  This procedure is definitely in the research phase and there are many imitators out there, so be patient!  In the meantime, you might consider Sculptra (, which is a series of injections that also stimulates the fibroblasts to make structural proteins in the face in a very similar manner.
